Along with our mature horses we work hard to breed and select young horses that exhibit the qualities we are looking for in the herd to raise up as future producers. Our young horses are raised up slowly, spending their time on pasture and getting to be horses with light work on ground manners, obstacle training, and exposure to some of the things they will experience in their lives as members of the herd. Keep an eye on these girls as we expect big things from them in the years to come!
AKH Meliae is a 100% blue roan filly who we retained in 2023. She is the first filly out of one of the imports we selected during our trip to Belgium. She is not only special in a sentimental way, but is an incredible representation of the breed in her build and type, as evidenced by her selection as the Grand Champion Mare in the 2024 EBRA Virtual Horse Show, and honor we were surprised and honored to receive for our homebred girl. AKH Juniper is a purebred 95.75% filly out of one of our most reliable logging horses and a tank of a mare. After seeing several full siblings mature into the kind of horses we strive to produce we made the decision to keep one for ourselves in 2024.

Gypsy horses are much easier to find in the US than high percentage Brabants, meaning that there is a lot more genetic diversity available when making breeding decisions. Our Gypsy herd is growing primarily through retaining solid fillies from our mares. AKH Jester is my dream filly out of my first ever Gypsy mare, Aurora Acres Saoirse, and our original herd sire FHF Shot o Whiskey. We are proud of the next generation of AKH Gypsies!
